Current Affairs 2 August 2022- Major Highlight- Sushlia Devi wins silver in Judo at Commonwealth Games
1. Maldives President- Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is on 4 day visit to India. PM Modi will hold talks with him and Mr. Solih will meet the new President of India- Droupadi Murmu.
2. Today India is celebrating 146th Birth anniversary of Pingali Venkayya (designer of the Indian national Flag). Tiranga Utsav is being celebrated in New Delhi on this occasion.
3. At the Commonwealth Games 2022, Sushila Devi won a silver medal in women's judo category. India's total medal tally as of now is- 3 golds, 3 silver and 1 bronze.
4. In a US drone strike, the leader of Al Qaeda- Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in Kabul.
5. Supreme Court will resume NEET PG hearing against 10% reservation for EWS category in government institutions.
6. Indian Antarctic Bill 2022 has been passed by Rajya Sabha. The bill aims to protect the environment of Antarctica by prohibiting certain activities.
7. Nitin Gadkari, Union Transport Minister, has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 6 national highways in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The total length of national highways is 119kms worth Rs 2300 crores. Madhya Pradesh Govt and NHAI have signed an MoU to construct ropeways at 14 places in Madhya Pradesh.
8. In Manipur, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities organised "Samajik Adhikarita Shivir" for distribution of aids and assistive devices to Divyangjans under the AIDP Scheme and Senior citizens under Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana.
